D.C. Divas vs NY Sharks

D.C. DIVAS BATTLE THE SHARKS
April 17, 2010

(Landover, MD) — The Divas took to the road to take on the N.Y. Sharks in Brooklyn, N.Y. On the Divas second possession of the game they mounted a 13 play drive that featured 10 running plays. The 13th play was a 14 yard touchdown pass from QB Kathryn Hemlock to WR Tara Stephenson. Hemlock kicked the extra point to make it 7-0 Divas. The Sharks finished the first half with two touchdown drives of their own to take a 13-7 lead at the half.

The Divas began the 2nd half with another impressive 14 play drive that featured 13 rushes capped by RB Tiffany Matthews 4 yd touchdown. The extra point was wide and the score was tied at 13-13. The was back and forth until the final 2 minutes when the Sharks QB Karen Mulligan plunged in from 2 yards out to put the Sharks up 19-13. The Divas took the ensuing kick and marched downfield to set up a 4th and goal on the 4 yard line. QB Kathryn Hemlock found WR Tara Stephenson in the end zone but the pass was broken up giving the Sharks a hard fought 19-13 wins as time expired.

“It was a great effort tonight by the players and coaches. We competed hard and left it all on the field “said Divas Head coach Keith Howard.

The Divas will now travel to Philadelphia to take on the Firebirds April 24th. Kickoff is 6pm.
