D.C. DIVAS vs. Tennessee Venom

On a cold cloudy day for May, the D.C. Divas hosted a game with the Tennessee Venom at Eastern H.S. in Washington, DC. Tennessee was seeking revenge for last year's 52-0 and the D.C. Divas were prepared for it. the D.C. Divas came out in the first half, scoring on every drive.

After a long sustained drive, TE Corey Carson on a pass from QB Deb Troell scored the first touch down. Deb Troell threw two more touchdowns in the first half to FB Donna Wilkinson and WR Tara Kallal. On the ground, the D.C. Divas used four different running backs to drive the ball down the field with three rushing touchdowns in the first half, two by RB Monica Livingston and one by Donna Wilkinson. This gave the D.C. Divas a 39-0 halftime lead.

Tennessee had a key drive in the first half driving deep into Diva territory, but the drive was stopped by a S Luann Peterson interception. the D.C. Divas would finish the day with two interceptions.

The second half was much different for the D.C. Divas offense. With a long list of penalties and Tennessee coming out more aggressive, the D.C. Divas were only able to add two more touchdowns. QB Allyson Hamlin came on the field in the second half to throw a touchdown to RB Amy Stenson and a hand off for a touchdown run by Donna Wilkinson. The fourth quarter became an all out attack session between the two team’s defenses allowing very few yards and opportunities for the Venom. By games end, the D.C. Divas won 53-0 to help tighten the gap between the D.C. Divas and Baltimore.

The D.C. Divas, Tennessee Venom, Baltimore Burn and Asheville Assault play in the Mid-Atlantic division of the National Women’s Football League.

May 25th, 7pm the D.C. Divas welcome the Asheville Assault.
