D.C. DIVAS lose to the Baltimore Burn

The D.C. Divas hosted their final home field game against the Baltimore Burn to a record crowd of over 1000 fans. In a game that meant all or nothing, the D.C. Divas' fate rested entirely in their hands. A win would guarantee a spot in the playoffs; a loss could end their season. This game matched the NWFL's #1 defense, Baltimore, against the #2, DC. The game turned out to be a typical defensive battle with neither team giving up any ground.

At half time, the score remained 0-0 with both teams trying to find away to score. The beginning of the third quarter, DC moved the ball inside the Baltimore 20-yard line, but came away without any points. The defenses continued their battle until the two-minute warning. With 1:55 left in the game, Baltimore has the ball around the D.C. Divas 30-yard line. Baltimore throws a pass along the sideline for the first points of the game 6-0. After a great kickoff return, DC has only half of the field to cover to reach the end zone. The attempt to tie or win the game on the final drive fell short. The final, score 6-0 Baltimore.

The National Women's Football League has 21 teams playing in 5 divisions. The NWFL has signed up 4 teams for 2003. The league website, www.nwflcentral.com receives almost 2 million hits per month.
