D.C. Divas Play with Passion

May 3rd at Eastern High School
Attendance 1,646

The D.C. DIVAS raised their record to 3-0 with a 32-7 thrashing of the Pittsburgh Passion (1-3). "We feel like we are sitting in the driver seat of our division, but we can't afford to overlook anyone,” said Head Coach Ezra Cooper. The D.C. DIVAS defense scored the first points of the game on a safety by defensive MVP Tessa Nelson and held the Passion to just 108 yards in total offense. The D.C. DIVAS high-octane offense went over the 1,000 yard mark for the season with 463 total yards. Quarterback Allyson Hamlin (a Prince George’s county police officer by day) was 7 of 17 for 103 yards and 2 touchdowns and was named the offensive MVP. Hamlin lead an attack that scored 30 points in the second half after going scoreless in the first “I expected a letdown after the win over Baltimore, just not as much of one as we had in the first half. Allyson Hamlin has the potential to be really good. I'm very pleased with her play,” said Coach Cooper.

Running back Donna Wilkinson rushed for 112 yards and 1 touchdown on 23 carries. Wilkinson leads the league in rushing with 483 yards in just 3 games " I want to thank my line, they are doing a great job" said Wilkinson whose nickname is the Animal. Wide receiver Tara Kallal added 125 yards of offense that included a 24-yard touch down pass reception and a 36-yard reverse for a score.

The D.C. DIVAS take to the road next Saturday to face the Columbus Flames.
