D.C. Divas Make The Illusion Disappear

The D.C. DIVAS continued their impressive march thru the Mid Atlantic Division of the NWFA with a 74-7 thrashing of the Erie Illusion. The Divas put up 32 unanswered points in the first quarter and lead 53-7 at the half "that was the best half of execution in our team's 3 year history" said running back Donna Wilkinson. "The Animal" added 2 td's on 11 carries for 77yds to add to her league leading rushing total (734yds in 5 games). The D.C. Divas backfield combined for 375 yards on the ground. Monica Livingston lead the way with 93 yds on the ground and scored a touchdown on her first carry of the game " I owe everything to my offensive line" said Livingston. LaShawn Foust continued to add bowling ball like yards with 77 yards on 12 carries. Quarterback Alyson Hamlin lead an offensive attack that went over the 400 yard mark for the 4th time this season. Hamlin was 5 of 8 for 57yds and a touchdown and was named the offensive MVP.The defense was once again impressive holding the Illusion to under 200 yards of total offense. Tessa Nelson was named the defensive MVP helping to spearhead a goal line stand and leading the team in tackles (7 solo with 5 assists) for the second game in a row. Cornerback "Poison" Ivy Tillman punctuated the effort with a 88yd interception return for a touchdown. Tillman , a 3 year veteran, summed up the team's growing confidence "we are going to the "ship" (championship) it's that simple"

The D.C. Divas travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Passion May 31st at 7pm.
