PRESS RELEASE D.C. Divas-Burn Rivalry Heats Up The D.C. Divas and Baltimore Burn have met 6 times in the last two season, and after the Burn's 22-14 come from behind victory, the Burn hold a 4-2 series advantage. Although the D.C. Divas defeated the Burn 24-0 earlier this season, all 4 of the Burn victories have come in the last two minutes of play. Last night, they preserved the victory with a 4th down stop of D.C. Divas running back Donna Wilkinson with just under a minute to play. Wilkinson became the first running back in league history to go over the 1,000-yard mark. Her 23 carries for 110 yards gave her 1,027 on the season to go along with 13 touchdowns. The NWFA's premier rivalry once again excited fans. With the win the Burn propelled them into the playoff picture. The D.C. Divas finish the regular season at 7-1 and take home the Mid-Atlantic Division championship. "We have nothing to be ashamed of," said D.C. Divas head coach Ezra Cooper. “Our season is something we can all be proud of. I expect we will attack the post season with the same intensity that brought us our first division championship." The D.C. Divas open their playoff push with a June 28th home game against the Connecticut Crush. Game time is 7pm at Eastern HS. For more information on the D.C. Divas, visit www.dcdivas.com. The D.C.
