D.C. DIVAS MAKE THE ILLUSION DISAPPEAR!

The D.C. Divas took a lesson from David Copperfield's act tonight and made an entire team disappear. Copperfield has made a jet plane, elephant and various other large objects go bye-bye; but this is believed to be the first football team ever to vanish!  The Mid-Atlantic division-leading D.C. Divas are now 3-0 after limiting the Erie Illusion to less than 100 yards in total offense. The D.C. Divas’ presto change-o defense registered their second shutout of the season with 6 players recording 5 tackles or more. Defensive tackle M'wbende Anderson recorded a sack and a team leading 7 tackles. "We took them for granted somewhat, and the 30-minute delay for lighting got us off to a slow start. But we regrouped as a champion should," said Anderson, who was named the defensive MVP.

Offensively, the D.C. Divas racked up 405 yards of total offense with 279 coming on the ground. Running back Donna "The Animal" Wilkinson racked up 124 yards and 4 touchdowns, and LaShawn Foust added 64 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Allyson Hamlin was her usual accurate self, going 5-of-7 for 124 yards. "Erie has gotten a lot better and we took them too lightly for my taste. We had to fight for this victory and we know we have a game in store for us next week," said D.C. Divas’ Head Coach Ezra Cooper.

The D.C. Divas will host the Illusion next Saturday at Eastern High School. Game time is 6PM. The D.C. Divas will team up with the American Heart Association during the game to tackle heart disease. All fans attending the game will receive a FREE heart disease screening kit. 1/5th of the DIVAS roster or their family has been affected by heart disease in some way. Heart disease is the number one killer of women in America today.

The D.C. Divas will resume practice on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week and are available each evening. Practices are located at Landover Hills Rec Park and begin at 7:30pm
