PRESS RELEASE ROANOKE LOOKS FOR REDEMPTION, BUT D.C. DIVAS EXACT REVENGE Revenge is a dish best served cold. Unfortunately for the Roanoke Revenge, it was 70 degrees at kickoff and they proceeded to melt away in a 70-0 shellacking at the hands of the undefeated D.C. Divas (5-0). The D.C. Divas equaled their second highest point total in team history for the second time this year. Both games against the Revenge have ended in 70-shutouts. The D.C. Divas’ defense recorded their 4th shutout of the year allowing only 65 total yards. Defensive MVP T.K. Washington earned her first MVP award in over a year and a half of play with 7 tackles and 2 sacks. “I’ve been wanting to do this for so long. It feels great to be recognized,” said Washington. The offensive MVP was Patrice Bowman. The D.C. Divas have outscored their opponents this year by a margin of 246-14. The D.C. Divas’ running game racked up an impressive performance with 367 yards on the ground. Donna Wilkinson scored 3 touchdowns and one was of five D.C. Divas to score. Wilkinson’s 118 yards were supplemented with strong performances by Monica Livingston, LaShawn Foust, Adrienne Lewis, and Yolanda Thomas. D.C. Divas’ wide receivers Vickie Lucas and Tara Kallal also had substantial success on the ground running the reverse. The D. C. Divas are currently in first place in the Mid-Atlantic Division and will travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Passion on Saturday May 22nd. The D.C. Divas will practice this week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with all practices open to the media beginning at 7:30pm at Landover Hills Rec Park.
