D.C. Divas Go to 9-0 with 30-18 Victory
Host conference championship on July 17th

The two-time Mid-Atlantic division champion D.C. Divas cast themselves as the number one seed in the Northern conference tonight. The D.C. Divas were headed into a chapter from the great director Alfred Hitchcock in the movie North by Northwest until the #6 seed Southwest Michigan Jaguars came to town and nearly delivered a horrific ending to a perfect season. The Jaguars acted like they were chasing Tippi Headren throughout much of the first half by swarming to a 12-0 lead and giving the D.C. Divas their biggest deficit of the season.

Return specialist Lilah "L-Boogie" Blackstone was a female Cary Grant coming to the rescue. Her 39-yard punt return for a touchdown made the score 12-6 at the half and propelled the D.C. Divas to their biggest comeback in team history. Blackstone's return style reminded some of Redskin great Darrell Green, who would have been impressed with the 120-yard total return performance.

The fiery half-time speech delivered by Head Coach Ezra Cooper was also a factor. "I told them that we had 30 minutes to live, and I felt we were giving away the season with the worst half we have played in over two years," said the fourth-year head coach. "I'm normally not a yeller, but I couldn't hold it back."

The tirade inspired the D.C. Divas’ offense to rack up 243 yards on the ground in route to 24 second-half points. Donna "The Animal" Wilkinson lead that attack with 130 hard fought yards and 2 touchdowns.

The D.C. Divas will host the first football conference championship game in Washington, D.C. since the 91-92' Redskins went to the Super Bowl. Two-time defending champion Detroit Demolition will visit the D.C. Divas on Saturday July 17th at 6:00PM.
