REDSKIN GREAT BRIAN MITCHELL NAMED D.C. DIVAS ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER

Future NFL hall-of-famer Brian Mitchell has agreed to a front office role with the D.C. Divas of the NWFA (National Women's Football Association). In his new role, Mitchell will have input into all organizational decisions both on and off the field. Retiring today as a Washington Redskin, Mitchell is the team's all-time leader in all major return categories. His 23,330 total yards in his 15-year career is the second highest total in NFL history. Additionally in 2002, Mitchell was voted one of the 70 greatest Redskins of all time. "This is a unique opportunity to be involved with a tremendous group of athletes who have become good football players. Working in the front office is going to be a new challenge and I know we can win," said Mitchell.

Under the leadership of first-year owner Paul Hamlin, the D.C. Divas are making moves to secure an NWFA championship. "We have won the division the last two seasons, and I believe with the addition of one of the greatest competitors in NFL history we are poised to take the next step," said Hamlin.

The D.C. Divas are entering their 5th year of play in the 36-team NWFA. The 8-game regular season begins on April 16th and runs through June. Playoffs follow in the month of July. The D.C. Divas are in negotiations for a new home field in Prince George's County. According to new General Manager Rich Daniel, "We're moving to a new home field near FedEx Field in Landover. Details will be available soon. In the meantime, we are thrilled to have such a talented individual joining us on the road to a championship. Brian will also bring an added emphasis to community involvement and player programs."
