PRESS RELEASE D.C DIVAS WIN HOME OPENER 18-0 Last night in front of 2,101 fans, the two-time defending division champion D.C Divas had a new field, a new owner, and a new starting quarterback. Amy Britton got her first start ever and executed 87 offensive plays en route to the 18-0 victory over the Cleveland Fusion. Britton earned the offensive MVP honors with a steady 7 of 10 effort for 77 yards. She was supported by a strong running game featuring Donna "The Animal" Wilkinson, who scored a touchdown and ran for 93 yards. The D.C. Divas' defense rose to the challenge of playing on a new field at Largo High School and made the most of it. MVP Subrena Rivers had 3 sacks and 10 tackles, and the D.C. Divas' defense held Cleveland to just 130 yards of total offense. New owner Paul Hamlin was proud of the opening night display, "I think the ladies really enjoyed the evening, and they proved they have what it takes to be a champion. We look forward to our next home game on May the 14th." The D.C. Divas will hold practice this week at Landover Rec Park (7pm Monday-Tuesday, and Thursday) in preparation for Friday travel to Pittsburgh. The D.C. Divas will take on their arch rival the Pittsburgh Passion on Saturday. Then they will have two bye weeks before returning to action on May 14th when they host the Tidewater Flood.
