D.C DIVAS ADVANCE TO THE NORTHERN CONFERENCE FINALS

The D.C. Divas improved their record ot 9-0 with a 36-6 second round playoff win over the visiting Massachusetts Mutiny. The Divas defensive MVP was lead by 5th year veteran linebacker Ivy Tillman. The Divas have given up a league low 18 points this season.The Mutiny have been the only team to score against the Divas this year. LB Mo Timmons blocked a punt early in the first quarter, which led to the Divas first score of the game. 7 plays later, QB Allyson Hamlin found tight end Rhonda Williams on 4th and 7 for the first score. RB Lashawn Foust added the 2pt conversion to make it 8-0. The Mutiny closed to within 8-6, but on the Divas next offensive possession, LaShawn Foust capped a 13 play drive with a 21 yard burst down the sideline to make it 14-6 Divas. QB Kelly Wessels added the 2pt conversion to make it 16-6. QB Allyson Hamlin then caught fire with touchdown passes of 40 yards to WR Tara Kallal and 26 yards to WR Nikki Williams to run the score to 30-6 Divas. Williams was named the games offensive MVP with 4 catches for 93 yards and a touchdown.Hamlin recorded her best game of the season going 6 of 8 for 140 yards and 3 scores. RB Donna Wilkinson lead a bruising running attack with 122 yards on 22 carries. RB Yolonda Thomas added a 38 yard TD run for her first career touchdown to finish the Divas scoring.

The Divas defense continued it?s outstanding year with LB Vickie Lucas adding two sacks, a blocked punt recovery and a huge hit on 4th and 1 to end the 3rd quarter of play. CB Dameeka Reese continued a stellar comeback season with her 2nd interception of the season. DE Subrena Rivers added a fumble recovery to a Divas defense that has produced 7 shutouts in 9 games.

With the win, the Divas earn a rematch with the 3 time defending NWFA champion Detroit Demolition. The Conference championship game will be played in Detroit on Saturday July 16th at 7:00pm.
