D.C. DIVAS SUSTAIN THEIR INTENSITY WITH 51-0 WIN
Team (7-0) Looks To Complete Another Undefeated
Regular Season Next Week
MEDWAY, MA—The D.C. Divas improved to 7-0 on the
season with a hard fought 51-0 win on the road over the New England Intensity.
They are undefeated in their first season in the International Women’s
Football League (IWFL).
WR Tara Kallal was the Offensive MVP, starting the scoring with a 7-yard
touchdown run. Also on the ground, Rachelle Pecovsky-Bentley starred with
163 yards on 14 carries, including a 53-yard score in the 3rd Quarter.
RB Tiffany Matthews sealed with victory with a 1-yard score.
The air attack featured QB Allyson Hamlin tossing three touchdowns on
6-11 passing and 172 yards. Nikki Williams, the team’s all-time
leading receiver, caught two scores, including a career-high 66-yard TD
reception. Kathryn Hemlock, excelling in the defensive backfield this
season, returned a punt 70 yards to the endzone.
Defensive MVP Trigger McNair lead a unit that posted the Divas’
fifth shutout of the season and 13th in the last 18 games dating back
to 2006. Middle LB "Poison" Ivy Tillman also stood out, recording
six solo tackles and one interception.
"Defensively they challenged us a bit early on,"said Divas Head
Coach Ezra Cooper. "We were able to adjust and then shut them down
for the most part. We are working very hard to finish out the season like
a champion should."
The Divas victory is their 18th straight over two seasons and gives them
a record of 44 wins and just 4 losses beginning with the 2003 season.
They will travel to Cape Fear next on June 30th to finish the regular
season. Follow all the action at www.dcdivas.com.
