Norfolk, VA – The D.C. Divas dominated their downstate rivals for the second time this year, defeating the Tidewater Floods by a 52-0 count.

The Divas (5-0) continued their dominating defensive efforts of late by delivering their fourth shutout in five games. Defensive MVP Kathryn Hemlock took two interceptions to the end zone. Her first interception return of 35 yards gave the Divas an early 7-0 lead, and her second scoring return of 33 yards increased the margin to 46-0. The Floods (0-5) only managed three yards of offense for the entire game against a smothering Divas’ defense led by Subrena Rivers, Rebecca Glasgow, and “Poison” Ivy Tillman.

The defensive line, known as the “Bodysnatchers,” continued to receive strong play from the entire group. Vickie Lucas joined Ivy Tillman and the rest of the linebacking corps for several big hits. Raynette Savoy and Dameka Reese helped Hemlock secure the secondary. The defense as a whole has recorded shutouts in ten of their last 15 games.

The offense was once again led by the veteran offensive line. Center Patrice Bowman was named offensive MVP for her continuing leadership and tremendous execution. Rookies Allysea Marfull, Jessica Poawui, and Asia Hardy also contributed valuable minutes and effort in leading the Divas to four rushing touchdowns.

Monica Livingston had two touchdown runs. Natalie Randolph added her third rushing score of the season by running for a 15-yard touchdown. LaShawn Foust and Donna Wilkinson had strong rushing efforts to help the Divas rack up 163 rushing yards as a team.

Through the air, quarterback Allyson Hamlin continued her impressive comeback from an early-season injury. Hamlin found Demetria Hawkins for a 15-yard touchdown, the first touchdown of Hawkins’ career.
