Detroit, MI – For the second straight season, the D.C. Divas will end their season one game shy of a national championship appearance.

The three-time defending national champion Detroit Demolition rolled out to a 35-0 lead against the Divas and coasted to a 38-16 victory. It was a difficult end to another tremendous season for the Divas (9-1), who were trying to hand Detroit its first loss since 2002.

Behind a strong offensive line, Divas running back Donna Wilkinson was able to find the end zone twice – once rushing and once receiving. She also successfully rushed for two two-point conversions. That allowed the Divas to cut the lead to 38-16, but in the end, the Demolition (10-0) won their 41st straight game to advance to their fourth straight national title game. Detroit running back Aisha Brown ran for 200 yards and three touchdowns and was named the game’s MVP. Detroit will play the Pensacola Power for the 2005 NWFA championship on July 30.

LaShawn Foust led the Divas in rushing with 61 yards on ten carries. Wilkinson added 55 yards and a rushing touchdown. Allyson Hamlin completed six passes for 84 yards and one touchdown, also to Wilkinson. Nikki Williams led the Divas with 35 yards receiving on two catches.

The Divas finished their second straight season with an undefeated regular season and a 9-1 final record. Over the last three seasons, the Divas have compiled a 26-4 record.
