Norfolk, VA – Now this was more like it.

The D.C. Divas entered the 2006 season as one of the favorites for the NWFA title. After a struggle last week against the Baltimore Burn, the Divas flexed their muscles by dominating the Tidewater Floods, 45-0. The Divas have now won 18 straight regular season games and 25 of 26 over the last four seasons.

The Divas (2-0) were led by running back Rachelle Pecovsky. Pecovsky is a rookie with the Divas this season but has experience playing for the Philadelphia Liberty Belles, Philadelphia Phoenix, and Delaware Griffins. Pecovsky currently lives in the Norfolk area and commutes to Maryland to practice and play for the Divas.

Playing in front of a hometown crowd, Pecovsky raced for 156 yards and one touchdown for the Divas on just seven carries. She was named the team’s offensive MVP of the game. LaShawn Foust added 27 yards and two touchdowns as well in the victory.

The Floods (1-1) were held to negative-six yards of total offense for the contest. Defensive tackle Tessa Nelson had an exceptional game and was named the team’s defensive MVP. Nelson is a ferocious hitter and a grandmother of two.

The Divas return home next Saturday for a game against the Harrisburg Angels.
