Landover, MD – Rachelle Pecovsky rushed for four touchdowns, Allyson Hamlin threw for three more, and the defense pitched a shutout for the fifth straight game as the D.C. Divas defeated the Tidewater Floods, 65-0.

The Divas (6-0) got off to a fast start, notching five of their ten touchdowns of the game in the first quarter. Hamlin got the Divas on the board quickly, throwing a 20-yard touchdown pass on the Divas’ first possession of the game to wide receiver Tara Kallal. The extra point kick put the Divas ahead, 7-0.

A fumble recovery by T.K. Washington gave the Divas great field position, and on the very next play, Pecovsky rushed 35 yards for the first of a quartet of scores and a 13-0 lead. LaShawn Foust scored a rushing touchdown from two yards away a few minutes later to give D.C. a 19-0 advantage.

The Tidewater Floods (1-4) then advanced the ball to midfield, but four straight incomplete passes gave the Divas the ball back, and they quickly capitalized. On the Divas’ second play of the drive, Hamlin hit TaQuina Billups on a 33-yard touchdown pass for a 25-0 Divas lead.

Tidewater then went three-and-out with less than two minutes remaining in the first quarter. Their ensuing punt was blocked, and Alison Fischer fell on the ball for the Divas at the Floods’ 14-yard line. On fourth and one from the Tidewater five-yard line, the Divas decided to go for it, and Pecovsky ran the ball in for her second touchdown of the game. The Divas led, 31-0, after just one quarter of play.

The Divas added to their lead in the second quarter. Hamlin tossed her second touchdown pass of the game, a 17-yard strike to wide receiver Nikki Williams, and the extra point kick put the Divas on top, 38-0. Hamlin would play just three snaps in the second half before heading to the bench, finishing with three touchdowns passing on the day.

Pecovsky powered the Divas on a drive late in the first half. She carried the ball five times for 82 yards, including a seven-yard run to the end zone that made the score 45-0 with seconds remaining before halftime.

Pecovsky added a nine-yard touchdown run on the Divas’ first possession of the second half for her fourth touchdown of the contest. Pecovsky’s final score put the Divas on top, 52-0. Pecovsky ended the game with 220 yards on 16 carries with four touchdowns.

From that point forward, it was time for the reserves to get a chance to show what they could do. Nikki Williams entered the game at quarterback, and a 25-yard pass to wide receiver Natalie Randolph set up a three-yard touchdown run by LaShawn Foust. Foust’s run gave the Divas a 58-0 advantage after three quarters.

Midway through the fourth quarter, the Divas were buried deep in their own territory. But Williams got the team off the hook, tossing an 81-yard touchdown pass for the Divas’ final score of the game. With the extra point, the Divas prevailed by a 65-0 count. Williams ended the contest as the game’s leading passer, throwing for 106 yards and a touchdown.

Next weekend the Divas travel to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, for their final regular season road game against the Harrisburg Angels.
