DC 28, Baltimore 7
By Neal Rozendaal
Baltimore, MD – The D.C. Divas had a tougher time with the Baltimore Nighthawks than they did in the season opener, but the Divas still prevailed over the Nighthawks in Baltimore, 28-7.
A scoreless first quarter was marred by penalties and scoreboard clock issues, but the Divas (3-2) quickly got their offense on track. The Divas got on the scoreboard first with a rushing touchdown to go ahead, 7-0, and a second touchdown gave the Divas a 14-0 advantage after three quarters.
The Nighthawks (3-2) threatened early in the fourth quarter with a touchdown that cut the Divas’ lead to just 14-7. But Kenyetta Grigsby helped to sink her former team, running for a 17-yard touchdown with seven minutes remaining in the game to pad the Divas’ lead to 20-7. The Divas scored their fourth touchdown late in the game for the final margin of victory.
After a bye week, the Divas return home for a two-game homestand. They next take the field on May 22 when the Divas host the New York Nemesis.
