Landover, MD – The D.C. Divas recorded their first shutout of the season with a 20-0 win over the visiting Philadelphia Liberty Belles at the Prince George’s Sports Complex.

Offensively, the Divas (3-0) ground it out on a muddy, rain-soaked field with 238 yards rushing on 56 carries. Allyson Hamlin opened the scoring in the second quarter with a quarterback sneak that capped a six-play, 68-yard drive. Then Kenyetta Grigsby continued her stellar season with a three-yard touchdown run to finish an 11-play, 75-yard march that ended the half with the Divas in the lead, 14-0.

Grigsby continued her impressive performance with her second touchdown in the third quarter, and the Divas were up 20-0. Grigsby finished the night with 29 carries and 163 yards rushing. “I give credit to the offensive line and everyone who blocked for me tonight,” said Grigsby, who is averaging 151 rushing yards a game this season. “They had some success stopping us but we just kept pounding it.”

The Liberty Belles (1-2) were held without a first down for the entire game and gained a total of negative-76 yards of total offense. “Our defense was outstanding,” said first-year head coach Tim Smart. “We pressured them continually, and lots of people made plays.”

The Divas have outscored their opponents 110 to 26 over the first three games of the 2011 season. The Divas have a bye week and then travel to Pennsylvania to take on the Keystone Assault on April 30.
