Landover, MD – The D.C. Divas won their first division game of the year with a big 49-0 win over the visiting Columbus Comets. The final score was not indicative of the hard-fought battle between two of the most storied franchises in all of women’s football.
Kenyetta Grigsby continued her impressive season for the Divas (2-1). After an illegal procedure penalty on her first carry from scrimmage, Grigsby scored touchdowns the next three times she touched the ball. She totaled 161 yards on just five carries. Allyson Hamlin was seven of nine for 125 yards and three touchdowns. Ashley Whisonant had four catches for 73 yards and two touchdowns.
The Comets (0-3) were held scoreless thanks to an inspired effort by the Divas defense. The Divas defense came up with their first shutout of the year and produced six and a half sacks and an interception.
The Divas travel next week to take on the New York Sharks on May 12 at 4 PM.
