Carrie Hall Q & A

What charities and/or causes do you support and would like to see the team do the same in some manner?
I currently support the Ohio Tigers Academy, INC in Massillon, OH. OTA is a 501(c)3 that promotes youth football in addition to mentoring, leadership, and community service which are key skills taught to the youth that participate in the program.

What groups/organizations are you affiliated with that might be good connections for us as community partners, sponsors, fans, etc.?
I was speaking to my barber, and she is interested in hanging posters and supporting the team. Her shop’s name is Snip N Styles Barbershop and it’s located Herndon, VA. She has a big clientele base and maybe useful in recruiting more players and/or potential sponsors.

What talent and skill sets can you offer to help the team and sport grow?
I am a certified Varsity football official in the state of Virginia. I also coach a youth football team in Manassas and I led (head coach) a youth team in Ohio to a national run two years in a row (2020/2021). My profession is in Cybersecurity, and I am familiar with various IT skills including being a webmaster.

Nick Chubb (#24/RB Cleveland Browns): He does everything so gracefully and humbly. He doesn’t brag, he doesn’t trash talk; he just runs your ass over and hands the ball to the ref in the endzone. He works hard off the field in the weight room and he’s just a standup guy.

How did you hear about women’s tackle football?
In 2009, I was just discharged from the Navy due to an undiagnosed illness. I was 19 and devastated. I planned on being in the Navy until I was in my 40s. I needed something to relieve my stress and release my anger. I was applying for college on Stark State’s campus, and I saw a poster about the Cleveland Fusion in the cafeteria… the rest was history.
Why do you want to play women’s football?
I was playing with boys from age 11 to 17. All of them had at least the opportunity to play the game at the next level and some even at the highest level but that was never the case for me. I really played it with no incentive, just pure love for the game. Women’s football now allows me to play with some incentive: to make a Pro team, to earn a starting spot, to break records and make records, to be the best and be playing the game that I love at the highest level. I’m truly in Heaven. I’m truly living in a dream that I didn’t have 20 years ago.
What does it mean to you to become a D.C. Diva?
To be apart of such a historic, prominent women’s football organization means everything to me. I remember being envious of Trigger McNair and Kenyetta Grigsby wishing I could be surrounded by likeminded women like them. Women who really wanted to play as one and win a championship so bad that they could taste it but also knowing that it wasn’t happening without hard work, dedication, and sacrifice. I know that that is the culture that I’m joining here as a Diva, and I am beyond ready to put that same kind of work in.
