Lillian Cherry Q&A
Who is your favorite NFL player? Why?
| Cris Carter…the types of catches he was able to make were ridiculous. The discipline and commitment he had in order to train his hands the way he did and become a Hall of Fame wide receiver are qualities I admire greatly. |
What are your favorite hobbies or special interests?
| Cooking, dance, and photography. |
What is your favorite food?
| I love sushi, steak, fries…I’m a foodie, so it’s hard to choose! |
How would you describe yourself in three words?
| Motivated, adaptable, receptive. |
What was the first sport you ever played?
| Basketball. |
What is your favorite sports memory?
| When I was younger, I would play “schoolyard” football for fun. One of the guys I played football with was my late father. We played basketball and football together often. He was my best friend, and I can’t choose just one of those moments. |
How did you get into women’s football?
| I always loved watching and playing football (although I never played on a professional level). One day, I decided to do a search to find if such a thing existed and found the D.C. Divas! Ever since I found them, I’ve been obsessed! I saw they had tryouts, went, and fortunately made the team. |
If you could play any other position, which one would you choose? Why?
| It would definitely be a wide receiver. I’ve always enjoyed the grind of a man-to-man match up and the opportunity to make a spectacular catch for your team. |
Why do you play women’s tackle football?
| As I said, I’ve always loved the sport and would play “schoolyard” football for fun with all the boys and men, even at a young age. When I heard there was a way I could play on a professional level for all women and it wasn’t that “lingerie football league,” it was a no-brainer that I was going to try out. |
