2017 Pigskin Club Posey Award

Wide receiver Kentrina Wilson and linebacker Trigger McNair were announced as the winners of the 2017 Posey Award, sponsored by the Pigskin Club of Washington, DC.

Kentrina Wilson was the focal point of a young D.C. Divas offense in 2017. She hauled in a franchise-record 55 receptions on the year, breaking the single-season record of 54 set by Ashley Whisonant in 2012. Wilson led the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA) with 13 touchdowns in 2017, and she was named a first team WFA All-American for the third time in the last four seasons.

Trigger McNair becomes the first player in women’s football to win three Posey Awards, having previously won the award in 2008 and 2012. McNair, the all-time Divas franchise leader in tackles, sacks, and tackles for loss, tied Tia Watkins for the team lead with 71 tackles in 2017. Trigger McNair authored the most memorable play of the season, blocking an attempted game-tying extra point attempt in overtime to help the D.C. Divas secure a 35-34 overtime victory over the Pittsburgh Passion on May 27.

Since 2003, the Pigskin Club has annually awarded the Posey Award to outstanding women’s football players in the Washington, DC, region. The Pigskin Club will have their annual awards ceremony at the Washington Navy Yard Conference Center on February 23, 2018.
