2018 Pigskin Club Posey Award
Wide receiver Kentrina Wilson and defensive lineman Miteka Trueheart were announced as the winners of the 2018 Posey Award, sponsored by the Pigskin Club of Washington, DC.
Kentrina Wilson continued to be the engine that powered the D.C. Divas offense in 2018. Wilson caught 53 passes for 825 yards and ten touchdowns on the season, leading the Divas in receiving in every contest. She became only the second Divas player to collect 50 career receiving touchdowns, and she shattered her own team record with touchdown catches in ten consecutive games. Wilson is the first player in the history of the Posey Award to win it in consecutive seasons, claiming the award in 2017 as well.
Miketa Trueheart becomes the first true rookie to win the Posey Award in her first season since the award’s founding in 2003. Trueheart was a terror on the defensive side of the ball for the Divas in 2018, ranking in the top ten in the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA) in pass deflections and pressuring opposing quarterbacks on numerous occasions. She finished her rookie campaign with 44 tackles, just one shy of veteran Trigger McNair for the team lead, and also finished second on the team with seven tackles for loss.
Since 2003, the Pigskin Club has annually awarded the Posey Award to outstanding women’s football players in the Washington, DC, region. The Pigskin Club will have their annual awards ceremony at the Pryzbyla Center at the Catholic University of America on February 15, 2019.
