Coach Fred Stokes Bio Coach Fred Stokes played at Montgomery College for two years before moving on to West Virginia University as a running back. After graduation, Stokes returned to Montgomery College as a running backs coach. Coach Stokes left Montgomery College to do scouting and recruiting work for the Norfolk Nighthawks, a pro football team competing in AF2, the Arena Football League’s developmental league. D.C. Divas offensive line coach Jim Tench recruited Stokes to join him on the Divas’ coaching staff. Along with Jason White and Vince Spigone, Stokes and Tench were part of a group of former Montgomery College coaches – nicknamed “The Band” – who served as assistant coaches for the Divas in 2004 under head coach Ezra Cooper. Stokes and his fellow Montgomery College coaches helped lead the Divas to their first perfect 8-0 regular season in team history. |
