C’Vette Henson Q&A

Who was your childhood idol? Why?
I wanted to be like my big brother Camaro, but of course much better than him…it is the competitive person in me! I wanted to be like him, because he played all sports and got to travel because of it. He played basketball, tackle football, and did karate. My mom wouldn’t let me play tackle football, because she said it was for boys. Therefore, I played the closest sport I could to tackle football: tackle football with no equipment in the grass, or street football where you tag your opponent in the neighborhood.
Who is your biggest supporter?
Yavonne…she is always down and ready for anything I have going on. Whether it is a football game, a basketball game, or just hanging out, she is ready to be on the go with me.
If you could have a conversation with anyone, dead or alive, who would you choose? Why?
Jay-Z…I would want to pick his brain about his success as an artist and a mogul.
Who is your female sports idol?
I wanted to be like Cynthia Cooper growing up. My first jersey was #22, just like hers.
Who is your favorite NFL player? Why?
Randy Moss…he had a gift for catching the football, and I always wanted to catch like him.
What are your favorite hobbies or special interests?
My first love is basketball. My second love is track and field; I was a high, long, and triple jumper. And of course, I love playing football, listening to music, and dancing!
What is your favorite movie?
The Waterboy!
What is your favorite TV show?
Chicago Meds.
What is your favorite travel location?
Charlotte, North Carolina.
What is your favorite food?
French fries!
Who is your favorite musician or group?
Creed.
What is your favorite quote?
“Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did.” – Newt Gingrich
How would you describe yourself in three words?
Determined, passionate, dedicated.
What are your lifetime aspirations?
To promote positivity and achieve world peace. There is so much negativity and so many bad things going on within the United States and in the world that if I can save one person, one day at a time, then I will do so.
What was the first sport you ever played?
Basketball.
What is your favorite sports memory?
In 2004, I played for the University of Maryland women’s basketball team. We played against Ashley Whisonant’s University of Arizona team. With 0.4 seconds to go, we had to go the length of the floor to try to score and send the game to overtime. We ended up scoring and eventually beat them in overtime…it was a great game!
How did you hear about women’s football?
I heard about tackle football at the end of my freshman year in college.
Why do you want to play women’s football?
To gain better knowledge of the game, for the experience, and for the personal challenge.
