Jessica Heck Q&A

Who is your biggest supporter?
My parents and my partner. My dad has been always proud of my achievements in life. My partner Amanda has dedicated her time and has sacrificed time to support my enjoyments in life. She is amazing and uplifts me when I’m down. Knowing she believes in me gets me through difficult situations.
Who is your female sports idol?
Billie Jean King…she opened minds by beating Bobby Riggs in 1973’s “Battle of the Sexes.” She opened doors by helping establish the Women’s Sports Foundation in 1974. She helped with Title IX and proved that women have the intestinal fortitude to play sports as equals to men.
What are your lifetime aspirations?
To help forge the way for women’s professional football and help make it more recognizable in the world of sports and become a sportswriter/commentator for ESPN.
What was the first sport you ever played?
Indoor soccer. I was seven, and I was the only girl on the team. I remember the ball being made from this ugly yellow foam, and I wore pink sweatpants.
What does it mean to you to be a Diva?
It’s playing a game with your heart and playing not for yourself but for 65 other women on your team. They all have the same goals you do. The team beats as one. One heart. Everyone makes the tackle, the pass, the touchdown as a team. Being a Diva is being able to look into your teammate’s eyes and know that she has your back and that you both will play your best no matter the outcome of the game.
