Kimberly Kennedy Q&A
What is your favorite quote?
“Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.” – Albert Einstein
What is your favorite sports memory?
Completing my first marathon. After that, I felt like I could accomplish anything.
How did you get into women’s football?
I really missed competitive sports and being part of a team. I never got the chance to play college sports because I went active duty in the military immediately after high school. When I heard about the D.C. Divas, I thought it was so awesome and tough that girls were playing full-contact football! It blew my mind. I craved the challenge of trying something new and playing a full-contact sport.
What was your biggest adjustment to playing women’s football?
I think the biggest adjustment was having to learn a new sport from scratch…taking it all in, making mistakes, and trying again. Football has been such a great experience for me, and I’ve learned a lot about myself throughout the process.
What does it mean to you to be a D.C. Diva?
To me, being a Diva means representing an organization that has a great history in women’s football. It means being a strong, assertive woman – on and off the field.
