Kristy Gonzalez Q&A
Who was your childhood idol? Why?
My mom…we had our rough patches while I was growing up, but once I got older, I saw her strength and she taught me to push through every obstacle presented to me. My strong, hard-headed perseverance is a trait I have picked up from my mom, and I always appreciate the mindset I have developed because of her. It has allowed me to grow as a person, and being hard on myself has allowed me to push through many challenges. I’ll never forget where I came from, and that is what motivates me every day. |
Who is your favorite NFL player? Why?
Ray Lewis…his defensive plays were always a model for the defensive plays I tried to make in soccer. His ability to read plays and shut things down quickly was a sight to see. I always loved watching him lead the Ravens defense. |
What are your favorite hobbies or special interests?
Playing soccer, working out, and advocating for pit bulls. |
What is your favorite book?
Always Running, by Luis J. Rodriguez. |
Who is your favorite musician or group?
J. Cole. |
How would you describe yourself in three words?
Hard-working, loyal, honest. |
Why do you want to play women’s football?
Women’s tackle football is a great way to physically and mentally challenge myself. Growing up with a single mother of three, I wanted to show that women can be just as strong, aggressive, and respected as men. I also grew up watching football, and getting the opportunity to play is a dream of mine. |
What does it mean to you to be a D.C. Diva?
Being a Diva means hard work and passion for the sport I love. |
