Lauren Fannon Q&A

Who is your biggest supporter?
My wife…she never says, “You don’t have time for that” or “it will cost too much.” She just says, “We’ll find a way.”
What are your favorite hobbies or special interests?
Woodworking, scuba diving, and sports.
What is your favorite movie?
A League of Their Own.
What is your favorite travel location?
I love to scuba dive, so anywhere I can do that is always fun. But I enjoy going anywhere new. I think the more different places we see in the world, the more we can understand that even though people might look or sound different than us, people have a lot more in common than not.
What is your favorite food?
Prime rib!
What is your favorite quote?
“It’s supposed to be hard. It’s the hard that makes it great.” – A League of Their Own
How would you describe yourself in three words?
Funny, loyal, hard-working.
What was the first sport you ever played?
I think it was T-ball. I have always played baseball or softball my whole life, then I added soccer. As an adult, I have also tried rugby and football.
What is your favorite sports memory?
My soccer team won the state championship my freshman year of high school. Previously I had been a field player, but the team’s goalie had graduated, so I got drafted into the position in preseason. The whole journey – going from losing 12-0 in preseason to winning the championship – is really my best sports experience.
Why do you want to play women’s football?
I played tackle football for one season before and had a blast. There are not a lot of opportunities to play women’s football, so when I saw this one, I jumped at the chance. Also, I really enjoy the camaraderie and the bond that team sports offers. There are not many places outside of sports where a group of people are all working together and giving their blood, sweat, tears, and time for a common goal. I think the harder the road, the stronger the bond, which is one of the reasons I’m excited about playing football. Going through all the hits, bangs, and bruises brings you together real quick.
