Mara
Lockard Q&A

Who was your childhood idol? Why?
Prince…he was introduced to me by my mom, and I only knew his music
for awhile. Then I grew up and learned that he went through a lot growing up, with
people always thinking he was gay or too feminine to be straight. I went through that a
lot growing up, with people always telling me that I can’t dress how I want to dress and
that I don’t act enough like a lady.

Who is your biggest supporter?
My wife…she supports me through everything, and when I’m down she
makes sure I have no worries and that I can do anything I put my mind to.

If you could have a conversation with
anyone, dead or alive, who would you choose? Why?
Martin Luther King, Jr…I just want to hear his story from him and to
hear how he pushed through the hate no matter what.

Who is your favorite NFL player?
Why?
Russell Wilson…he is a quarterback and more. He takes time out of
his life to give back to the sick, and he loves that almost more than he loves football.

What are your favorite hobbies or special
interests?
Running, drawing, and dancing.

What is your favorite movie?
Coach Carter and The Pursuit of Happyness.

What is your favorite TV show?
SpongeBob SquarePants.

What is your favorite travel
location?
Arizona.

What is your favorite food?
Chicken.

What is your favorite book?
The Giver, by Lois Lowry.

Who is your favorite musician or
group?
Drake.

What is your favorite quote?
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate
cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

How would you describe yourself in three
words?
Loyal, goofy, smart.

What are your lifetime aspirations?
To own my own business and fashion line.

What was the first sport you ever
played?
Track and field.

What is your favorite sports
memory?
Going to State for the long jump in high school and getting second
place.

How did you hear about women’s
football?
I found the Divas on Instagram.

Why do you want to play women’s
football?
Because I love sports and I love to be aggressive. I want to show
people women can do anything men do.

What does it mean to you to be a D.C.
Diva?
It means a lot! It means I’m part of a family, it means I have goals,
and it makes me feel like I have a purpose in life.
