Stacy Bruce Q&A

Who was your childhood idol? Why?
Michael Jordan…he inspired me to play basketball, and he loves the game just as much as I do!
Who are your biggest supporters?
My parents, John Bruce and Patricia Hines, and my sister and brother-in-law, Angela and Russell Dunson.
If you could have a conversation with anyone, dead or alive, who would you choose? Why?
My grandmother…I lost her on September 7, 2012, to cancer.  She helped raise me and made me believe that I can do anything I put my mind to.  She is the reason why I remain strong in everything I do today.
Who is your female sports idol?
Tamika Catchings.
Who is your favorite NFL player? Why?
Dez Bryant…he’s tough and quick with a non-stop competitive attitude.
What are your favorite hobbies or special interests?
Working out at the gym, playing basketball, fitness modeling, football, listening to music, and cheering for the Miami Heat and Dallas Cowboys!
What is your favorite food?
Soul food.
What is your favorite book?
A Father First, by Dwayne Wade.
Who is your favorite artist?
The legendary Bob Ross!
What is your favorite quote?
“Fall down seven times, stand up eight.” – Dwayne Wade
How would you describe yourself in three words?
Quick, laidback, competitive.
What are your lifetime aspirations?
I aspire to be the best that I can be and to go through life without causing harm or distress to either myself or to others.  I want to be able to show others that anything is possible in life as long as you go after it and work hard for it!
What was the first sport you ever played?
Basketball.
What is your favorite sports memory?
In one of my college basketball games on the road, I played with the flu and scored a career-high 46 points.  It was my version of Michael Jordan’s “Flu Game” in the 1997 NBA Finals!
How did you hear about women’s football?
I was invited by a former D.C. Diva, tried out, and made the team.
If you could play any other position, which one would you choose? Why?
Defensive back…there is nothing more exciting than playing great defense with the opportunity of intercepting the ball for a possible pick-six!
What teammate best embodies the Divas spirit?
Donna Wilkinson.
Why do you want to play women’s football?
I am very competitive and enjoy throwing my body around!  You will see me falling more than standing the majority of the time because I enjoy hustling.  That’s the reason many call me Lady Wade!
What does it mean to you to be a D.C. Diva?
It means to be a female version of a hustler…to dominate in what you do and show the world that you can do it, so that the world will never forget!
