Tea Törmänen Q&A
Who was your childhood idol? Why?
| I had many, but I could mention Jacques Cousteau and Dian Fossey…both did tremendous work to educate us so that we could understand nature and animals better. |
Who is your biggest supporter?
| My husband and my parents. |
What was the first sport you ever played?
| I did a lot of dancing, alpine skiing, and horseback riding as a child but not really any competitive sports. So I guess football would be the first! |
What is your favorite sports memory?
| The two national championships I won with my football team in Finland. |
How did you get into women’s football?
| I saw an ad in Finland that a team in my hometown was looking for players. Back then, we played semi-contact football with flags. Two years ago, we started playing tackle football. |
What was your biggest adjustment to playing women’s football?
| The helmet. It was heavy, and I felt like I couldn’t see anything. |
If you could play any other position, which one would you choose? Why?
| Defensive end or outside linebacker…lots of tackling, running, and contact with the blockers. |
