Yasmin Cazeau Q & A

What sports have you played in the past and for how long?
Basketball 2007-2014

Why do you want to play women’s tackle
football?
I love the intensity, strategy, and physicality of tackle football. The game pushes me to be my best—mentally and physically—and I thrive on that challenge. Being part of a team that works together toward a common goal is something I value, and I’m excited to contribute in any way I can.

What does it mean to you to become a D.C. Diva?
Being a D.C. Diva is about more than just playing football—it’s about representing a legacy of strong, dedicated athletes who love the game. It’s an opportunity to be part of something bigger than myself, to compete at a high level, and to help grow the sport. I take a lot of pride in that.

What talent and skill sets can you offer to help the team and sport grow?
I bring a strong work ethic, discipline, and a willingness to learn and improve. Whether it’s through my physical abilities, my competitive mindset, or my ability to support and uplift my teammates, I’m committed to helping the team succeed. I also believe in promoting the sport and showing others—especially young athletes—that football is for everyone.

Really loving reformer pilates at the minute!

Fish and Chips from a proper UK Chippy! But, I love a good Pho or Ramen! But. it has to be with udon noodles!

Who is your favorite musician or group?
This varies! I love such a variety of music so it’s hard to choose one! I like RNB and Soul- Jazmine Sullivan, SZA, HER, Barry White, Lauryn Hill, Teddy Pendergrass- the list goes on! Neo Soul/Soul and RNB are certainly the favourite!

Who is your favorite NFL player or WFA player? Why?
Easy! No brainer- Jordan Mailata- best LT in the world right there! Whew!

Who is your female sports idol? Why?
Serena Williams is my sports idol because of her strength, resilience, and dominance. Her work ethic and ability to overcome challenges are inspiring, and she’s broken barriers in sports while advocating for equality. She represents excellence both on and off the court.

What was the first sport you ever played?
Basketball

What is your favorite sports memory?
Chest bumping with my centre at Euros and when she landed she fell over straight away – video evidence can be provided! Or, the moment we won against Canada.

Who is your biggest supporter?

My Husband. He travels EVERYWHERE to watch me play: Germany, Finland (twice), Spain and all over the UK. In the 8 years I have been playing, he has only missed one game.

If you could have a conversation with anyone, dead or alive, who would you choose? Why?
My Dad. He was my best friend and just always knew what to say- and it would be so simple and probably pretty monosyllabic. I miss his wisdom.

What is your favorite quote?
In a jokey but not jokey way: “tough times never last, only tough people last.” In an I read literature way, “Angry people are not always wise.” But to that I would say, but it implies they are sometimes.

Rank the top five priorities currently in your life.

1. Soaking in as many experiences as I can.
2. Travelling
3. Building a home with my husband
4. Making sure my family and friends know I love them.
5. Building solid foundations for my future family

How important is an athlete’s public
image?
An athlete’s public image matters because we represent more than just ourselves—we represent our team, our sport, and the next generation of players. Conducting ourselves with professionalism, respect, and integrity helps build the sport’s reputation and inspires others to get involved.

How would your friends, coaches and
teammates describe you?
Full of energy- always. And if not, there’s something wrong! I will always bring the energy and the party. I love to chat, I love to dance, I like to see others’ enjoyment.

What do you look for in a coach?
I look for a coach who is knowledgeable, disciplined, and passionate about the game—someone who can push me to improve while also supporting my growth as an athlete. I respond well to a coach who sets high standards, communicates clearly, and fosters a team-first mentality. Most importantly, I value a coach who leads by example and creates an environment where players can thrive both physically and mentally.

What is the best piece of advice you have gained from your coaches?
PFE. It became our slogan when we were at worlds, and it has just become one of those sayings. It has an expletive so I won’t repeat, but best believe it means when you’re on the field-everybody will get it.

How would you describe yourself in three words?
Funny, Loveable, Hardworking
