Why Play for the D.C. Divas?

Reason #3: Top Competition

The D.C. Divas seek out the toughest competition possible, year after year. We want to win championships, but we also know that winning championships or games by loading up a schedule against nothing but lower-level completion is hollow and empty. Contests against the best opponents in the sport are the games that fans want to see and the games that our players want to play in.

The Divas are members of the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA), the premier league of women’s football in the United States. The Divas have switched league affiliations twice in our history, both times in an attempt to secure a spot among the strongest and most competitive teams in the sport. We desperately want to win, but we actually prefer to lose an exciting, hard-fought game against an elite opponent than duck tough competition to ensure a good-looking record. And the Divas have never, ever forfeited a football game…and we don’t plan to.

The Divas’ scheduling philosophy is structured around three basic beliefs:
1)   If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best.
2)   If you want to beat the best, you have to play the best.
3)   If you don’t want to be the best, why play at all?
